Context
In the residential suburb of Santa María, this landscape design transforms the front and rear yards of a renovated home into a vibrant extension of its modern architecture. With mature trees framing the site and a bold, geometric layout visible from the street, the garden offers both privacy and character.
“Designing with plants is also designing how a space feels — softer, calmer, more alive.”
The front garden softens the sharp lines of the residence with structured beds and tall species that guide the eye and create a sense of arrival.
“Light reveals form.”
A custom lighting design highlights key trees and masses of vegetation, extending the experience of the garden into the night and reinforcing the space’s rhythm and archi tectural interplay
This project demonstrates how thoughtful planting design can elevate residential architecture—adding privacy, scale, and a lush atmosphere tailored to Puerto Rico’s tropical setting. A limited but expressive plant palette, orchestrated across both sun and shade conditions, allows for seasonal growth and long-term comfort. Here, the landscape doesn’t just frame the home, it completes it.
